Each species has it's own “look” so far as grain patterns and hardness. Different woods also offer different wood characteristics that can be extremely pleasing to the eye.
Designers and Architects use the grain patterns, natural knots, different widths and added colors to help define themes in different rooms and entire buildings. Wood is the most common and most beautiful material to utilize in design. Hand Distressed Refers to flooring that has been scraped, distressed and sanded by hand. These floors feature natural characteristics, a sculpted irregular surface and thus an aged, worn look and usually have softly pillowed edges.
Machine Distressed Refers to flooring that has been distressed and sanded by mechanical means. These floors also feature natural characteristics and deliver an authentic aged visual, while still providing a smoother and more even surface treatment. They usually feature micro-beveled edges. |
